A solution of the SM (420 mg, 1.39 mmol) in POCl3 (15 mL) was stirred at 65 C for 2 h. The mixture was cooled to RT and diluted with toluene. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the mixture was co-evaporated with toluene once more. The resulting residue was dissolved in DCM, washed with sat aq NaHCO3, and concentrated. The crude was purified by silica gel flash chromatography (100% heptane to 6:1 heptane/EtOAc) to provide the product. [132 mg, 33% over 2 steps]
